We will cover a range of topics specific to powered paragliding, building upon your existing paragliding foundation.

Assessment:
Your understanding of these topics will be assessed through a theoretical examination, as required by the BHPA for powered pilot certification.

- The Power UnitThis foundational section introduces the core of powered paragliding: the paramotor itself. We'll explore the different types of paramotors available, considering factors like engine size, frame design, and intended use (beginner, cross-country, tandem). You'll gain a comprehensive understanding of the key components and parts of a typical paramotor unit, including the engine, propeller, fuel system, harness, frame, and safety features.11
- 2 Stroke EnginesAlthough there are electric paramotors, the majority of paramotors are still 2-stroke engine powered. You need to understand how a 2-stroke works and some basic maintenance to keep you flying and avoid being grounded!4
- Air LawThis section will recap items from the CP theory as well as introducing new topics to you as a paramotor pilot10
- Flight Plan ExampleThis final section focuses on the practicalities and regulations of paramotoring, guiding you through the essential steps of flight planning, understanding safe circuit patterns around launch and landing areas, and outlining the key considerations for responsible and legal solo powered flight.7
